My exposition writing comparing Taylor Swift and J.K Rowing

Walt: Follow the writing process to write an exposition.

I compared J.k Rowling and Taylor Swift here is the conclusion of my writing.


I personally believe that J.k Rowling is a better leader, than Taylor Swift because Taylor Swift has violence in her music videos unlike J.K Rowling who wrote the book Harry Potter that may have a bit of violence but not as much as a famous singer/role model Taylor Swift's music videos. Also J.k Rowling is a better leader by showing resilient in her family maters. For instance when her husband died she didn't stop with her career she married another men and got two wonderful children and now is a fantastic leader.All in all I personally believe that J.K Rowling is a better leader in her own special way.

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership

We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.


We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are motivational , integrity , trustworthy , Active thinker , resilient and goal focused.

The leadership trait that I think I show the most is resilient because when I get into the pit I seek help from the teacher or other students to get out.

The leadership trait I would most like to develop is motivational because I want to motivate other students to be a good leader.
Something NEW I have learned about leadership is what a great leader is and what a good leader should look like.

The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is extended abstract because I can evaluate the effectiveness of a leader.


My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.

Drama

Calculate Mean, Median, Mode and Range

Walt: Explain/calculate mean median, mode and range using a simple set of data.

  

I have got to 100 on both of theses activities and can calculate mean, median, mode and range easily.
Here are some examples:

First I ordered the numbers: 
2, 3, 3, 4, 4,5, 7
Then found the middle number. 
Here is an example of doing it with a bar graph. 

To figure out the mean I need to count the numbers up. The total is 28. Then divide 28 by the total of bars or numbers. 28/7 = 4. The mean is 4. 

My Next step is to set a new maths goal.

library- merit 4

Today I was a librarian what I did was Sophie and I returned people's books and our own we also issued books for our self's  and others. We basically went through the process of what we do In the library if your on duty. Today in the library there was a big rush of people we could hardly handle them, as a librarian we are supposed to wait for Mrs Ward to come in so we can let everyone else come in too but everyone else was so impatient  Before Sophie and I came in the library there was about twenty people already inside so we had to tell everyone to please wait outside in the cold until Mrs Ward arrives. When everyone was outside they were literally fighting to come inside but luckily Miss O'Connor  was on duty outside and saw so came to help and made everyone line up. One minute later when Mrs Ward arrives everyone rushes in, Sophie and I had a lot of work from the look of people and believe it or not we had a lot of work.


Overall I think Today was a great day with a big rush in the library but all in all it was an fantastic day and I had a lot of fun issuing peoples books and returning  them too.


I think I showed resilient because most of the people were very impatient and many people were very loud also when we were telling people that the library is closing not even one person moved and cared to go outside not even for fresh air.

Peer Mediation - 4 Merit

On Tuesday I did Peer Mediation with Candice at second half of lunch.We walked around the senior playground and the whole kakano area. Mrs Hall told Candice to take a little girl who started school yesterday to find her brother and talk to her while I had to do Peer Mediation myself . After about 2 or 3 minutes on the field there was a problem that I spotted it was a boy calling some girls candy pop and  I went through the process and then we solved the problem?

Overall I think Tuesday was a interesting day because of the weird problem I got and I had no one to help me solve the problem.
I think I showed Active Thinking by solving their problem and not saying "solve it yourself "or saying "that it's not even a proper problem". I actually solved the problem without making it a problem myself and I think  it went pretty well there might have been one or two people not listening to the rules but I showed resilient by coping with it.

Kauri events merit

A few weeks ago the kauri students did run bike run I was in a team with Honor who did the first run and Alicia who did the second run. I did the biking since this year was our last year of run bike run we tried our absolute best and I think that we did way better then last year we were actually close to getting 3 place. Honor named our group the little mixes. 
 How the whole day went:

So first we did the normal roll and then check if we had all our gear and then we lined up in a humongous line where I could see the start or the end of the line I suppose my class was in the
middle of the line then we all walked down to Halswell domain 40% of the student had bikes so it was pretty hard to get there and there was a gigantic traffic but luckily we had a police officsir to stop the cars and let us cross the road. After that we all reached the domain and settle down it was really hot so mr Forman quickly told us about what we all need to do and then we all sat in the shade under many trees after a good 10 minutes the year 4 's did there run bike run mean while one of the other year groups played a game that the house captains organised for them and then once the year 4's finish then it's the year 5's turn and so on till the year 8's finish theirs. At the end we do a small cermony of the individual 1, 2 and 3 winners get a medal and a applause. After that we get back into a big line and walk back to school in the same process and we had a assembly and then the 3:00 o'clock bell rings and everyone's free to go home.

I can use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

For my “Evaluating Leaders” research I have been researching about J.K Rowling and Taylor Swift.


During this unit I have had to use a range of strategies to find the information I needed on Google. This include:
Cross checking my information to make sure that it's true.
use common sense.
I even used advanced search eg. picture,videos and maps.

I have achieved this goal by referencing my information and using cross checking on my evaluating leaders research.

My next step is to set a new reading goal

My Argument

For writing we have been learning to write an argument using the writing process. The topic was “Are Devices Taking Over Our Lives”.

Something I did really well in my writing was…
organisation , spelling and structure and language.

Here is a section of my writing that shows this.
Green is where I have shown spelling, and organisation.

If you don’t look up you could miss opportunities, like your career or helping someone in need.

You need to look up and take the chances/opportunities in life before it’s too late.If you don’t look up it could be bad for your health too.

Devices are ruining our health. People get lazy and gain weight, this is a true fact I’ve personally seen this happen,This even affects your eye sight also your ears,If you listen to music really loud you could get deaf.Devices even affect our sleep, by keeping us up all night, it even causes stress to people.Devices are ruining our health but I understand that they also have some positives.
